So, at the end of the day, it does matter when you go to a casino, but in terms of changing your chances of winning, there is no difference in what time you go at. The only difference will be the overall. But, what's actually happening behind the scenes is that the more people play the game, the sooner the jackpot hits, and that's usually in the evening/at night when people are done with their daily chores and come to a casino to relax and spin. My theory played out again this last weekend with some good wins Friday and Saturday night and aweful on Friday morning and all day Sunday/Monday. I keep thinking the casinos are trying to encourage play when people come to town and take the money back on Sunday and Monday before they leave. Last Man at the Table. That's only true under the assumption that the casino doesn't dynamically change their floor on a schedule as the OP said. At least two major gaming manufacturers, IGT and Bally, have systems that allow precisely that to happen -- and at least the Aria is totally set up for that technology. On-the-fly floor mix changes is one of the benefits of server-based gaming. The question is 'if that's implemented, what's the schedule?'.
To my knowledge, most casinos have not implemented server-based gaming in this level of detail. It's still very much a turn-the-key process.

Even if we ignore that issue, it wouldn't be good business to loosen and tighten slots according to the hour or day. For any given casino there is going to be some optimal return to set the slots at, according to denomination. Same as any other game. Make the machines too tight on a busy night, with a captive audience, and you may make more money temporarily. However, you'll create ill will among all the players who lost, and they will be less likely to return.
That said, I'm not sure I agree that it's not good business. It's very commonplace in other industries to charge different fees for the same services at different times. Lunch always costs less than dinner. Even in table games, you can find a $5 table mid-day Thursday but not Saturday evening. Other than changing the game entirely, the two levers the casino has are denom and edge. Most slot games are multi-denom, so that leaves only edge. In my mind, taking a multi-line penny machine from 92% to 90% on a Saturday evening isn't much different than taking a dice table from $5 to $10. Casino games have different EVs based on location, why not time?
I always thought different EV's based on slot location was a myth because of the random assigment of the chip. I don't know.

Personally -- with my years of experience playing slot machines at many different casinos -- I have come to find that there is indeed an ideal time of day in which to visit the casinos in order to increase the chances of winning on the games. My favorite strategy for winning on casino slot machines is to hop around on the slot games looking for the machine that is 'hot' -- that is, the machine that is in the 'win' cycle and is paying out. The way to find such a game is to move around from game to game until you find such a machine, and if you visit a casino during the busiest hours, this will be hard to do since most of the games will be occupied by other players. Thus, the best time to go to the casinos in order to move around freely from machine to machine is after 2 AM, since the crowds will be much smaller and more games will be unoccupied. I have found this to be true at most all casinos I have visited. I have had my best luck on slot machines between the hours of 2 AM and 4 AM. On the flip side, I have had my worst luck at casinos when I go week days in the early morning hours (7-10 AM).
As far as which day of the week is the best day to visit a casino, I personally have had my best luck on the slot machines on Saturday night after 2 AM (which technically would be Sunday morning.) It is almost as if the games suck in the money from the big Saturday night crowds, and start paying it back out in the wee hours after the crowds have left. I have also tried hitting the casinos on week nights after 2 AM, but Saturday nights seem to be better as far as getting big wins and large payouts.
As far as which months of the year are the best for winning on casino slot machines, I have consistently had my best luck during the summer months -- June, July, and August. Play n ninja. Casinos in michigan with hotels. It seems almost every year I will have winning streaks of 8-12 nights (one night a week on average) during these summer months in which I will come out ahead each visit. My winning streaks usually end sometime in September. On the flip side, I have had my worst losing streaks in November and December -- it is almost as if the casinos tighten up the payouts at the end of the year. I cannot say that for sure, of course, but that has been my experience through the years so I try to avoid going during the stingy Winter months.
